Pics from the other day at the park - ducks being a bit mellow, and lots of browns..

By the way, no, these are not all the same ducks!
Please click on the pic to embiggen.

This pic is actually from this last February.

In the fall

Most of these pics are of Hooded Mergansers.  I know they're not ducks, but they do hang around together, and the Mergansers are SO skittish that it took some time to get their pics, especially with the light and reflections in the water just right.  Some post processing, but nothing that fakes up the images, just clarifies.

Please click on the image to enlarge and go through the blogger slide system.

Ducks in a row!

...and for good American Wigeon...
The only manipulation on this (and the other) photo is some brightness and contrast control, and sharpening.

Ducks of summer.....hanging out in the shade.

A few ducks hanging out in the shade at the park.

Looking demure...

This pic and below are the same duck, but with different reflections.....I just liked both....cute!

As usual, note that you can enlarge the image by selecting it and go through the images using the google slide show.

Just hanging out.

Thinking about the future?

A couple of more recent pics.

Feeling a little out of place!!!

Dropping the water levels to eventually clean out the pond.

A couple of nearby 'neighbors'.

Although these Wood Ducks were hanging out at King's Pond at the nearby Cedar Hill Golf Course,  I'm sure (?) they would visit Beacon Hill Park while migrating around.  These were tonemapped with Photomatix Pro.

A few pics from a spring walk at the park.

Only one of these images was processed with Photomatix Pro, but not a huge amount.  They all had some processing in ACR (as they were underexposed) and sharpness and contrast adjustments but look pretty well like the NEFs.  What a lovely day!
